George Adams appointed as Deputy Chair

New Zealand carpet company, Cavalier Corporation Limited (NZX: CAV) has appointed independent director, George Adams, as Deputy Chair.

George joined the Board in June 2018. He has more than 25 years of commercial and international business experience in the fast moving consumer goods and telecommunications industries, as well as a strong background in occupational health and safety. He was previously managing director of Coca-Cola Amatil New Zealand and Fiji, a role he held for 10 years. Prior to this, he held a number of finance roles including finance director of British Telecom Northern Ireland.

George is passionate about the potential for New Zealand businesses on the global stage and says Cavalier, following its restructuring over the past couple of years, has an exciting opportunity ahead of it.

“Wool is returning to fashion as consumers increasingly look for natural and sustainable products, rather than synthetic options. Recent discussions with customers around the world have confirmed that Cavalier is highly respected for quality products, and this is further supported by New Zealand’s clean green reputation. Cavalier has 60 years of heritage and experience in the industry and we are building on this, adding a market led, customer-focussed overlay which will benefit the business and shareholders.”

George takes over the position from John Rae, who remains an independent director of the Board.
